[ It's been about an hour since Phillip and Luca disappeared in a nice shiny lightshow over the only bridge into the city, and everyone but Theo and Mags were KOed by Kadabra's Confusion attack. Or something like it. ] (Magellan is a Magneton with a beard. Anyhow.) [ Everyone else was out cold but alive, so the pair through the magic of the cinematographic ellipsis hauled everyone into the nearest free-standing structure: a brick building near the foot of the bridge which was probably a guard station. ] (BZZT) [ It is here that we find everyone now. The building only has one room, and it's got a wooden table with some chairs, a cistern, and a bookshelf with some unidentified books scattered mournfully across the broad shelves. ] [ The stone floor's uncomfortable for the KOed folk, but not as uncomfortable as the headache they're about feel when they wake up. Go! ] * Khyra sits up. This is a mistake, as a second later, she's back down, clutching her head. "Ow! Damn it!" * Magellan is sitting in a chair, sipping water from a tin cup, and idly flipping through a book. (*eyes LJ* Screw you too, buddy.) * Theodore after having safely deposited the KOed stuff has gone to look over the books, checking for languages he understands and absent that diagrams. He's had a definate air of excitement since seeing the city. (Khyra/Maimun: OW. Seriously. Ow. Very, very infrequently you *still* get very short images, less than a second, of the bizarre future city you envisioned. ) (Barely anything you can grasp. It's like seeing something move out of the corner of your eye.) (Yeah, was going to ask. Are any of them readable.) * Maimun , more sensibly, opens his eyes and mutters, slowly trying to sit up, "Oh, light, what did I do this time..." He fails his get up attempt. (The books are not in any written language either of you recognized.) (A few crumbled to dust when the covers were opened.) * Khyra curls up and tries to massage her temple, saying "ow" every five seconds or so. (temples) Ye took a nasty knockin', seems like. (What about LJ?) * Theodore has also been doing some furious writing, jotting down any details he can recall about the city. He glances over to the waking people. "Need anything?" (It was giving me a read-only thing for a while. I finally got the post to the community through, though.) (They've been having problems, according to the status page.) (Yeah.) * Maimun blinks a few times. "I'm not sure. Where am I, exactly?" Ow... something... ow... to make my... ow... head stop... ow... hurting. * Theodore thinks for a moment. "Sorry, I don't carry anything for headaches. And we're in what seems to be a guardhouse, we pulled back after trying to cross the bridge, most of you were went unconscious in the attempt." (...it ate my post.) (Anger.) * Khyra rubs her temples some more, then stops and slowly sits up. She then resumes rubbing. "Is *that* what happened?" I got nae fer an achin' head. My sympathies, though. * Khyra blinks every few seconds, as if she's trying to focus on something but can't quite manage it. (...no, it just posted it to the wrong damn journal.) * Magellan sips water. "Theo, lad, can ye make heads or tails out 'o these books?" * Theodore gives up on books and looks over his notes, trying to find if he's missed anything, he marks occassional correction as he works. "Oh, it is more complicated than that, but the rest is harder to explain." From what is going through my mind, I was under the impression I was ran over by a city. But... perhaps my memory is shaky. (Okay. Now try.) It was all so... overwhelming. * Theodore pauses writing for a moment. "If anyone has any specific memories they would like to describe, I would find it quite useful." Are you still seeing it? [ Ben, for the record, is out like a light. Alive, but still out. ] (And boy is he in for a fun private mini when he gets back.) [ So's Mark. Ben is nowhere to be found. ] [ Ha. Ha. Ha. Shut up. ] * Khyra blinks again, then exhales. Still seein' what, lass? * Maimun shakes his head _very_ slightly. "Nnh. Not... sometimes. Like the aftereffects of looking into the sun." * Theodore shakes his head and then looks at Khyra eagerly. "Are you? Could you write down what you're seeing? (You two can have your headache/visions start fading whenever you want.) * Khyra holds out a hand. It's shaking slightly. "Wait until my head stops feeling like it's going to crack open." [ While it crosses my mind: The weather couldn't be more perfect if it tried. It's warm but not too warm, sort of breezy, sunny too. ] * Khyra exhales again. She slows in rubbing her head. It's fading. Thank goodness. * Theodore rips out a few pieces of paper for Khyra and hands her a pen. "Whenever you feel up to it." * Magellan finishes paging through the book. "Aye, a good read. Couldnae understand a bleedin' word of it, but still a good read." * Khyra takes the pen and paper and sets them on her lap. (Freak.) * Maimun actually sits up himself. "Strange. I am in pain, but... not tired. How long were we out?" (About an hour.) Not much more than an hour I think. About that, aye. Did you look around after you brought us here? * Khyra finally gets a look at her surroundings. "Wherever 'here' is." * Magellan stands up and pitches what's left in his cup into the cistern. "Nae, we were waitin' fer ye te wake up." Hmm. Well, thank you. * Theodore nods. "Given the unfamilarity of our environs and the possible danger as shown by what happened to the miners I'd think it best to be cautious." * Khyra picks up the pen and paper, considers things for a moment, then starts writing. "I'd agree with that." * Theodore looks to Magellan with a slight smile. "So now that you're done reading, do you have any thoughts as an engineer on what we saw?" * Maimun stands up and smooths out his robe, before rubbing his arms and looking around the room. * Magellan scratches his beard. "The buildin's we saw... remarkable. And impossible." Same goes fer the bitty metal carriages. Well, nae impossible. But I've ne'er seen their like, and I wager neither man nor Drogg has, either. (Implying that Droggs are not men.) (We are ubermenschen._ (They're dwarves.) It was truly astounding, really. I'm afraid my descriptive abilities are failing me in this report. * Theodore nods at Magellan's comments and then looks ot Khyra. "It's alright, even marginal details not fully described may be able to teach us a great deal if properly analyzed." * Khyra continues writing. "True." She pauses, considers something else, then resumes. * Maimun smiles slightly. "What I can remember is amazing, but most of the constructs in Mullenwald are as strange to me." * Magellan casts an aged orb on Theo. "Yer assumin' someone'll believe ye, lad." It's just... hard to make suitable comparisons for some of the things I saw. Or thought I saw. (Theo, make a save vs. Drogg.) * Theodore grins. "If need be I'll find someone I can pay enough to believe me. If I could could apply just a small portion of this knowledge as new technology..." (Wha?) More powerful men than ye've cracked square 'cross the brain. Money only goes so far. * Khyra finishes writing and holds paper and pen out to Theodore. "I wonder what they do for entertainment in this place..." (Never mind. ^_^ Just a bad joke.) * Theodore chuckles and collects the pen and paper. "Thank you Khyra. Goes far enough to pay some engineers to assume it is true. If they can derive something then the results will speak for themselves, if they can't, so be it not all investments pan out." * Magellan shrugs. "Shall we take a look around?" Well, Mark is still asleep, but we could stay close and leave a note if he awakens without us here. Aye. (afk a sec) * Khyra slowly and carefully stands up. "That seems reasonable. I think I'm ready to go." * Theodore takes a moment to write out a note for Mark, with excellent penmanship, and leaves it next to his unconscious body. * Maimun rubs his face then says, "I guess I'm ready." (Back.) Let's proceed then. * Magellan grabs his wrench and nods. * Theodore heads to the door. He takes a moment to put away his notes in his suitcase and carries that with him. * Khyra picks up her traveling pack, slings that over her shoulder, and adjusts something on her wrists. [ Mark continues to be unconscious with the fury of a thousand graduate students. ] * Magellan follows Theo, looking cheery and calm. [ Outside you go! ] * Maimun goes outside too! And stretches. * Theodore looks around. * Khyra looks around once she gets outside. * Magellan DOESN'T look around, just to spite you. Wait, he actually does. [ It isn't any different than how you left it. Your side of the river is occasional scatterings of more ruined buildings, but mostly overgrowth at this point, though the cobblestone streets are STRONG to grass incursion, somehow. ] [ The other side of the river is the towering (well, to your standards) ruined city whose spires reach almost to the encircling shell of the mountains. Above, the sky filters through the 'gap', clear and blue. From the sun's position it must be close to noon. ] * Dicesuke (dice@c-24-15-245-98.client.comcast.net) has joined #otherworld (ANyone looking at the actual *mountains* and such, trained-only Phys Science roll. Geology specialty counts, but you don't need it to try. ) (Phone. ^^;) (...Rochelle's sheet is not my sheet. <_<) 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Magellan (2d6-2) and gets 7. (Lucky you, as I doubt she has the skill.) * Maimun makes a small mming noise and says, "It seems so empty. I have never seen such an empty city." * Magellan peers around with his engineer's eye. * Theodore takes in the whole environment before looking back to the city. "Hopefully it was abandoned. The other possibilities are worse." 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Theodore (2d6-2) and gets 6. (make) (Back, sorry. Mom called.) Ye've surely never seen Smithstadt after a night 'o hard drinkin, lad. It's so desolate... * Magellan pauses a sec, peers at the mountains, then shakes his head and starts walking again. * Maimun shakes his head. "No, I haven't, but even that can't be this... yes, desolate." Ye've never seen a smith drink before, then. * Khyra keeps staring. "It's both amazing and disturbing at once." * Maimun smiles slightly. "Not unless you are a smith, no." * Theodore frowns. "I wish Phillip hadn't run off. I'd have quite a few questions for him." My beer stomach's nae even half the size of a smith's, lad. * Magellan wanders over towards the bridge but not on it. So would I. But where, exactly, could he and the other gentleman have gone *to*? [ Good question. They're certainly not here. ] I'd say even if this city and valley were largely the the product of engineering, there's also magic at work here. * Magellan peers at the bridge. If they collapsed, like we did, then surely we'd see them near the bridge, provided they didn't recover and wander further in... Magic? I can believe that. (You saw them disappear.) (They both vanished in a burst of blue light when they tried to cross the bridge.) (She's thinking that maybe they ended up on the other side, collapsed, after that. Plus her memories are a bit fuzzy.) I can believe it as well. The bridge's sturdy as a rock, far as I can see it. * Theodore shook his head. "They disappeared, not all of us collapsed." He gets out some drafting paper and makes a few technical sketches of the city itself. "Hmm.. Magic. I know, I could claim I got this information from a seer or some such and wanted to see if it panned out. Nothing insane about that." I know, but I thought maybe they collapsed after... well, never mind. And for that explanation to work, it would have to have been a *very* good seer. Although I'm coming to believe that's possible as well. * Theodore grins. "It'll be a superb seer, I don't actually have to pay anyone, so I can afford the best." * Magellan peers at the city beyond, eyes darting all over. * Maimun looks between Khyra and Theodore, not quite getting it. * Khyra smirks. "Very clever of you, Mister Godspeed." * Theodore keeps drawing. He seems to have a certain amount of skill. "Thank you, and you can call me Theodore if you like. Seems as if we may be traveling together for some time." [ Birds sing. Chirpity chirpchirp. ] * Khyra smiles. "I'm honored, Theodore." * Maimun frowns slightly for a second, then turns towards the group. "Now that you have all flown, I must point out that I could get a better view from the air." * Theodore smiles slightly and keeps working. "So, I wonder if Phillip was simply overcome with exuberance or if he knew more than he told us." (As he flies up, runs into a wall, and fries his brain. Good job, Maimun!) * Khyra looks over at Maimun. "Yes, but would it be safe for you?" Magisters never tell ye everythin' they know. * Magellan plods over to one of the ruined buildings on this side of the bridge and has a peek inside. (if there IS still an "inside"). If I do not run into any more invisible walls... * Maimun looks around a bit, apparenntly attempting to see invisible walls. Invisible walls? Is that what's keeping us on this side of the bridge? * Theodore nods. "This is true. I should have said I wonder whether he in any way anticipated this city." He certainly seemed to realize *something*, with the spell he cast back in the cavern. [ The building Mags chooses appears to have once been a one-room schoolhouse. All that's left are broken desks and a cracked chalkboard. ] * Maimun smiles at Khyra. "I don't know if it was an actual wall, but we ran into something, did we not?" Yes. It's still there, then, I take it? * Maimun turns citiward. "I hesitate to try again." At least the people here were nae so different. We haven't tested it yet. I certainly believe it to be worthwhile, but nothing we need to rush. * Khyra considers this for a minute, then walks up to the bridge, stops, and reaches out a hand. [ ZAP. ] * Khyra jumps back, rubbing her hand. "I think that settles that." [ A light shock. Nothing painful, but it's there. ] * Magellan comes out of the schoolhaus and enters another building. He's idly drumming some rhythm on his wrench with his free hand. * Theodore looks over to Khyra. "What happened?" A slight shock. I was more startled than hurt, but the invisible wall is certainly still there. At least you are not unconscious, eh? Hmm.. I suspect it also surrounds the lake itself, but if it's only a slight shock, it would be worth testing. [ The next building was a bakery. All that's left is the oven, but it actually appears servicable, if old. ] Better than being unconscious, but I think I'll leave it alone for the time being. * Theodore puts down his materials and tenatively goes to step onto the water, several yards away from the bridge. * Magellan peers at it. "We'll nae be cold, at least." He moves on to the next building, moving farther away from the group. [ This building eats Mags because this was supposed to be a low-impact mini, gawdamnit. ] (Augh!) [ Actually, the next building's completely empty. There's scorch marks on the walls. ] * Magellan looks around, then shivers. He backs out and heads back to the group. "Nae much left of the place." Just ruins, then? [ Theo gets about as far as the shore, and from there on can't even walk forward. No shock, but there's an invisible but solid something there keeping him from going any farther. ] * Maimun watches Theo walk on the water. "How interesting." * Khyra keeps an eye on Theo. "Not exactly the sky, but still impressive." Aye, ruins. * Theodore walks back to his materials. "No shock, it was simply impassible. I'd rather suspect the bridge is the only entrance. We can test coming in from above, there may be an upper limit, but we should wait and take precautions before that." And an oven I might be able te make into a heater if it gets cold enough we need te. ( okay. Can you guys amuse yourself in the... maybe 5-10 minutes it's going to take for me to go make some food? ) Warmth and shelter, then. (I'm really hungry.) (Yes.) (Sure) (Sure.)\ * Maimun shakes his head. "I would not recommend flying in at all, but if they didn't get too far into the city, I might be able to see them from a higher altitude." He rubs his wrists a little. And I have provisions, although they won't last very long if I have to cover all of us... (Okay. If it makes things easier, any attempt to get over the river is totally blocked. The bridge results in shocks, everything else results in the force wall.) Dinnae see food, but we've got water, and we have nae checked out the place fully. (I'll be back shortly.) * Theodore smiles slightly. "It's a talent. It would appear I am not the only one to possess one." * Theodore nods at Maimun's comment. "Excellent idea." He gets back to the drafting work. "A view from the heights may reveal much we can't see from the ground." * Magellan plops his butt down in the dust. * Maimun smiles a little weakly, and says faintly, "Is it a talent? I was never terribly clear on it, as..." he trails off. Khyra wanders around a bit more, looking into the ruined city. (Argh.) * Khyra wanders around a bit more, looking into the ruined city. * Khyra calls over her shoulder to Maimun. "It was quite wonderful, as far I'm concerned." * Maimun blushes a little, then clears his throat and says, "Thank you." * Khyra smiles warmly. "You're welcome." She proceeds with her wandering. While he's a-flyin' round, we ought te decide teams fer explorin' the place. * Theodore nods. "Mine is, one that some Godspeeds are born with. My sister as well possesses it." He then grins slightly at Maimun's blush. "So you don't know whether your ability is magic or a talent?" * Khyra heads back. * Maimun shakes his head. "No, I do not." * Maimun chuckles. "I am just happy it works." We Godspeeds actually acquired this particular talent quite some time ago, so we're well familar with its nature and uses. * Theodore nods. "Sensible attitude." It would be a bad thing were it to fail at certain times. * Maimun smiles nervously, and says, "Yes, it would." At any rate. Are we setting up a camp of sorts here? (Has Mark given his last name?) (Yes. Now watch me forget it.) (It was something farily simple, too.) Makes nae sense to be leavin' without the Magister. We'd be suspect o' murder, for one. Fer another, Mark's still conked out. Fer a third, I truly wish to see the city. So do I! (Actually, on my names sheet, I don't have it.) So, camping it is. I should have brought my luggage, but then it isn't possible to prepare for everything. (Names sheet. Wise.) (Especially good for SAB.) (And, thanks to the power of log-hunting, I have discovered that Mark's last name is Stephensen. I'm sure he introduced himself back in session 1.) (And that is a smart idea.) (Ex: Saldin doesn't even know Maggie's real name.) (I don't see it in session 1.) (Anyway.) (She doesn't really have one. Changed it to @!#$.) Who would have prepared for finding a valley in a mountain? * Khyra looks over at Theodore. "If you had that much forethought, I'd be almost frightened." (Hmm. Well, then I just won't talk about him IC!) * Theodore grins. "If I had that much forethought I'd likely be constantly be behind a desk putting it to use." Makes sense te set up camp in the building we were in. It's the least destroyed out o' the buildin's I saw, it has water, and it's close to the bridge in case the Magister and his friend come back. Though if we find a few beds it'd be a better camp, for truth. * Khyra grins back. "And that wouldn't be any fun at all, would it?" She turns to Magellan. "I agree." * Khyra sighs. "My bedroll is, of course, back with my horses." (Back. Sorry.) Mayhap we can find some cloth or somesuch. * Theodore shakes his head. "There's something to be said for field work." He then looks to Magellan. "Don't suppose you found any devices of interest in the ruins? Or hints of more advanced technology?" We all seem the resourceful sort. I'm sure we'll figure something out. Nae. The stove I saw was wood-burning. Not even electric. * Theodore looks thoughtful. "Odd." * Khyra ponders this. But I only looked in three houses. Be best te search the whole place, see what we can scavenge. Split up or stick together? (Vision checks! I think. Yeah.) 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Theodore (2d6) and gets 8. * Maimun shakes his head and says, "Perhaps we should... yes." 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Khyra (2d6-2) and gets 4. 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Magellan (2d6) and gets 7. (Awareness?) (Madefish.) (Miss) Well, it is noon. We're in no rush. May as well stay together in case we encounter more oddness. 2d6-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Maimun (2d6-4) and gets 4. (If awareness counts, made, otherwise totally missed. ^_^;) (Those who made it notice a largish building off in the distance, on your side of the bridge.) * Khyra points at the large building. "I'd say that's a good place to look." (Made either way, actually.) * Magellan nods. "So it would seem." * Khyra starts going that way! Everyone'll follow, presumably. * Theodore looks over. "Quite." He finishes up what he's presently drafting and makes a mark to note where he stopped. * Magellan follows Khyra. * Theodore then gathers his belongings, puts away his papers, and follows. * Maimun follows Khyra too. (Oh. I should narrate.) [ You walk! You walk a good long while, too, down one of the cobblestone streets as far as it will take you. The building in question is not so much tall as it is broad, with a giant domed glass ceiling... very rare, since most Mullenwald glass is imported at absurd prices from Solaria. ] * Khyra looks up at the dome. "How lovely... it must have cost a fortune to create, though." Two fortunes. (And a half.) Now I have to know what's inside. * Khyra heads for the entrance. (Come on, Theo, precisely how many fortunes?) [ There is a large archway leading inside! However, it's too dark to see what's actually in there from the shadows of the architecture. ] (*snerk*) * Maimun blinks, then says, "Maybe. I have not seen glass like that in a long time." * Theodore shakes his head. "It is lovely, but I think we can safely assume that what is created here was done so with magic or technology we don't understand. It would simply be impossible to import this much glass from Solaria without someone notices and discovering this." (Solarians don't build with glass, overall, because they live in a desert and glass buildings in a desert climate are suicide.) (Yes.) (Ha. Smashy!) * Theodore jeads after Khyra. (More like burny.) (Greenhouse effect.) (noticing. Not notices) * Magellan peers at it. "Aye... I'm all fer new technology. Let's get a move on!" * Maimun follows, looking around cautiously. Even with magic or technology, it still may have cost a fortune. * Theodore nods. "It's certainly worth a fortune now." [ You head inside! And... wow. ] [ The place was clearly important. There aren't cisterns, there are *fountains*, still functional, in fact, for starters. There's a lot of open area, though part of the building looks like the box office of a theatre. Under the glass dome is a central depression with the inner rim made into a continuous round bench. ] * Magellan 's eyes go wide. "...Two fortunes." * Khyra gasps. No, really, she does. (Fountains are *big*. Mullenwald barely has the technology to make continuous ones that don't rely on naturally running water.) * Theodore slowly takes it all in. "A fortune even with the assistance of technology or magic we don't understand." * Maimun whistles and says with a tinge of want in his voice, "So much water spread about." * Khyra walks over to one of the fountains and tentatively reaches out a hand to touch the water. * Magellan visually scours the place for pumps, machines, anything! * Theodore walks over to the fountain and paces around it before looking to Magellan. "Any thoughts on how this works?" He looks it over as he speaks for any signs of uunfamilar technology. [ It's cool to the touch, in a way only running water can be. It's shockingly clean, all things considered. ] * Maimun walks around a bit, not bee-lining on the fountain, instead looking at the other stuff. Nae a bit, lad, leastwise not till I can get at the guts of it. [ There's not much other stuff to look at. The box office-looking thing isn't recognizable to any of you, but your players would recognize it as a ticket counter. It's boarded up. ] * Khyra wipes her hand on her pants, then wanders around a bit more, peering at this and that. (My playing time's coming to an end soon. x_x) (I dunno what they have planned. If you wanna keep playing Mags can complain of trouble and head back without them.) * Theodore looks around more. "Perhaps once Mister.. I'm afraid I've forgotten, what is the unconscious gentleman's surname?" (We're just wandering. I don't think we have plans.) (I have no plans, at least.) (/me casually carts up the ceiling for sale back in Mullenworld. "No plans here." * Maimun walks over to Khyra and says, "There isn't too much in this place, other than being, maybe, some sort of meeting place." Dinnae remember it. But we ought te be gettin' back anyhow. It certainly looks like some sort of meeting place. I wonder if they ever held performances here... [ It is getting to be late afternoon. You walked quite a ways to get here, uneventful though it was. ] * Maimun smiles slightly. "Perhaps." * Magellan takes one last look around, then heads out of the buildinging. * Theodore frowns for a moment and then nods. "You're probably right. Well, I'll simply have to ask him once he's awake. And we likely should return..." He then gets out paper and begins to make a few hasty sketches of the dimensions of the place. Complete with the occasional explamaition point and price estimate. "How are the acoustics? It seems as if the sound would be lost in such a large hall." I could find out. * Theodore smiles slightly. "I think we'd all be amenable to that experiment." He keeps working. (Just assume I got a head start on the way back. ) * Khyra finds a likely looking spot, clears her throat and begins singing. It's one of the songs she sung way back when at the springs pavillion. [ There's a bit of an echo! The acoustics are good for voices carrying, it seems, but not necessarily for performing. ] * Theodore nods along as he sketches the fountain. * Khyra stops after a few verses. "I can hear my voice carrying, but I can tell this wasn't meant for a performance." (Well said!) (I couldn't think of a better way to put it, to be honest. ^_^;) (Heh.) * Maimun mms and says. "Well, perhaps something else, then. Still, nothing too helpful." It seems designed to show opulence to a great number of people. However, I doubt we know enough to know whether it has any other purpose aside from a meeting place and a demonstration of wealth. Well, we have time to figure it out. * Theodore nods. "And figuring out the mechanism behind these fountains would prove we weren't insane. Or, at least, were a rather marketable sort of insane." Profitable insanity is the best form of insanity? (Well, the man's got his priorities sorted, that's for sure.) (Visual checks! Why not.) * Maimun chuckles slightly. "Perhaps in the great search for money..." 2d6-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Maimun (2d6-4) and gets 4. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Khyra (2d6-2) and gets 3. (Again, made if awareness, missed if not.) (Made either way.) Progress Mr. Maimun, progress. ::He then grins:: Well, and maybe some wealth along the way. 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Theodore (2d6) and gets 6. (make) [ You all notice a torn poster on the wall. The wording is in a language you don't understand, but it shows what appears to be a train heading into another city of spires similar to this one. Mullenwalders can instantly recognize the city as the Tötenschloss from the image of the lighthouse alone. ] * Khyra walks over to get a better look. "A train? To... Totenschloss?!" (Wait. A train train? As in, big metal train? Would we recognize that?) (I know not how to do the umlaut. It is sad.) (I think we have them.) (Mullenwald has trains. Have for years.) (Solaria doesn't but trains would be useless in the desert anyway.) (Okay, didn't know, and yeah, they would.) (They can be done. I remember Laurence of Arabia blew some up. ^_^) (You would. ;p) * Theodore looks at the poster. "Ah... that perhaps would explain it." So this was a train station? (They can be done, sure, but.) * Maimun sees the poster, but... "Totenschloss. The other man... Mark, mentioned that before. That's... the strange city in the southwest, isn't it?" The abandoned city. Yes. * Theodore nods and frowns suddenly. "Could there be a tunnel leading there?" * Maimun nods. "And how would one of those trains go from here to there? We must be a ways away, by any means." A train tunnel? Possibly, although who knows if it's still passable, or how long the distance is. (There's for sure no sign of a train or tracks here. And they'd be noticable.) * Theodore looks around again. "Something this side, outside of the city, would have to be for travel to a different city or cities. Travel by a great number of people." And I didn't see anything even remotely resembling that, come to think of it. * Maimun shakes his head. "More strange questions." He pauses, then says, "Perhaps I should fly on my way back, and see if there are any more mysteries I can uncover." That sounds like a good idea. I'm afraid there isn't anything I can do to gain a new perspective on things. * Theodore frowns. "Magic and technology aside, this city doesn't seem natural. Why would a secret city have a massive train station. And one with no tracks." He then looks to Maimun. "Can you take us with you? I'd enjoy such a perspective as well, and my methods take a bit more preparation." Certainly unnatural, but all the more intriguing for that. * Khyra looks at Maimun and her eyes light up. "Yes, could you?" * Maimun looks between Theo and Khyra and shakes his head. "Only if I could carry you, I'm afraid..." * Khyra looks disappointed. "Ah, well. I suppose I'll remain earthbound for now, then." * Khyra says something quietly to herself. (Maimun heard it, I think, being as he's perceptive like that.) * Theodore frowns then shrugs. "Suppose stick to family ways then." * Maimun smiles at Khyra and says with a nervous smile, "I'm sorry, it's just part of the talent, I think." * Theodore then offers a few sheets of drafting and writing paper and a pen to Maimun. "Certainly, mine is the same way. Perhaps you could record anything you see of note." [ No grues in sight. The sun is beginning to set. ] It's all right. I honestly wouldn't want to endanger you. But we should be getting back. It's growing dark. * Maimun grabs the paper and pen. "I can try." Then he looks at Khyra with a nod."Yes, I had better get going." * Theodore nods. "As should we." * Khyra readjusts her travel bag and starts heading back to the first building, where Magellan presumably went. * Theodore walks with her. * Maimun walks outside the building and stretches for a second, before taking off, pen and paper in hand! (So we cutting here?) (I'm about done.) (Todd can handle what I can see elsetime, if necessary, or now. ^_^;) [ And so, the adventurers flew, walked, groused, or other wayed their back to the guardhouse. What lies in store for them tonight? Where are Phil and Luca? Will Mark ever wake up? Who knows, because it's Mini End. ]
