[The setting! The roof of the Loose Screw. The time! The night after the day that the Sky people made it to the Loose Screw. The people! Maimun is sitting there on the nice flat roof. The happenings... well, that, we'll have to see. Mini start!] * Maimun is, indeed, sitting on that roof! He's leaning back on his hands and staring up at the stars, which are hopefully still somewhat visible. * Khyra emerges from somewhere. She was performing earlier, but has changed back into a simple blouse and pair of breeches, though her hair is unbound. In one hand is a simple wooden flute. She notices Maimun and lets out a soft "ahhh." * Maimun 's head shifts slightly. He's actually got the hood of his robe down, so you can once again see his dark hair, in the darkness. At least the moon is out. * Khyra takes a few steps forward. Not ones that would take her off the roof, of course. "I didn't think anyone else would be out here." * Maimun twists his head to look back at Khyra and smile very faintly. "I didn't expect anyone else to come up here either, so I guess we're both surprised." * Khyra takes a few steps towards him. "Well, since you were here first, if you're not in the mood for company, I'll go back." * Maimun turns back forward. "It is alright, I was simply looking at the sky. Have a seat, if you wish. How was the performing today? Are the miners a generous crowd?" * Khyra sits down next to him. "Not overly generous, but reasonable. I shall have to remember their preferences of music so that I might tailor tomorrow's performance a bit more towards that." (Their preferences of music are as follows:) ("OMG SHE HAS BOOBIES.") (Well, that makes it easy for her!) (Common clay of the new west and all. ) (That is what I suspected. ;p) Not a usual crowd for you, then. No. Honestly, I suspect I could play whatever I wanted. This town is rather lacking in the fairer sex. * Maimun smiles a little, then nods. "Yes it is. A town of workers. But that makes opportunities for you, does it not?" * Khyra taps her flute softly against her knee. "Opportunities... I suppose. It's a new place to travel, at the very least, and I will do fairly well during my stay here." * Maimun makes a soft mming noise and says, "Yes, I would wager you will." And you? How long do you plan to stay here? * Maimun smiles a little. "Well, that will all depend on our luck in the Magister's search for Selenium, won't it?" * Khyra shakes her head slightly. "I wish you luck with that, but I think you're going on a wild goose chase." * Maimun looks over at Khyra and smiles with enjoyment/enthusiasm. "But what a wild goose chase it will be. A Magister who has detached himself from his past which, from what I can tell, is no small deal. A mysterious fortuneteller connecting a number of people, from the rich to the poor, the young to the old." * Khyra smiles a bit herself. "It sounds like a wondrous tale when you say it that way." * Maimun then turns back to look at the sky. "It does, doesn't it? But I have no skill with telling tales. Just hearing them." I have been known to tell a tale or two in my travels, but I prefer to sing, or to play. * Khyra raises the flute to her lips and plays a few idle notes. * Maimun doesn't speak up while she's playing, then says once she's done. "So you sing tales, instead." * Khyra rests her hands (and flute) in her lap. "Yes. And, if the fortuneteller is to be believed, I shall sing storms as well." She glances up at the sky. "But it looks perfectly clear to me." * Maimun laughs a little. "And I will dance in the sky. My dancing is, perhaps not so sadly, not practiced." In the sky, or on the ground, or both? Both. Which is not to say I do not dance, simply... * Maimun sits forward a bit. "It has been a while." * Khyra looks at their surroundings. "Well, while I can practice my singing here, this is not a particularly good place to practice one's dancing. Care to descend?" * Maimun turns towards Khyra and blinks. "You think I should practice?" * Khyra waves a hand idly. Well, if you are to dance in the sky someday... but no, mostly I was teasing. Ah. Let us hope I don't have to be good at it then. * Maimun leans back and looks up at the sky again. * Khyra begins playing softly again. It seems more to be a series of improvised phrases rather than an actual song. After a bit, she finishes. I still don't believe in destiny, or fate, or anything like that. Yet I came here. * Maimun nods slightly. "I have never been a great believer in fate, except when I was told differently. But the Selenium is what captured my interest." * Khyra shakes her head again. "I really don't understand all this fuss over something stuck in the ground! Legend or no, it can't possibly be worth not being able to see the sky for days!" (Aww. But it came frlom the sky!) (But it's not there anymore!) (That is indeed true.) * Maimun blinks then says, "You may be right, but... just imagine. Something rarer than an artifact, and far more dangerous." ("C'mon, let's go poke the nuclear reactor with sticks again!") (Woohoo!) If people were meant to go underground, we would have been born that way. (You weren't?) (...you weren't! HAHAHA. Ahem.) * Maimun nods, then says in an amused tone. "I have heard that argument before, but it was in regards to clothing. It does not seem very convincing." * Khyra gives a rather unladylike snort. "I suppose." * Maimun rubs his hands together. "I am nervous as well. I have never been deep into a system of caves myself." He smiles weakly. * Khyra grimaces briefly, so briefly as to be nearly unnoticeable. "Again, I wish you luck. Just don't expect me to join you." * Maimun nods slightly. "Thank you. I am sure we will need it." If only... if it weren't a mine, I *would* go with you. Because I have to admit that I'm curious as well. * Maimun nods, and a little smile comes on his face. "Well, I cannot make it not a mine, I don't think." I would like to see that. Wave your arms, the Selenium comes popping out of the ground, and all is well. * Maimun laughs. "If I could do that, I would have many friends." Your praises would be sung to the four corners of the world! * Maimun nods. "Yes, although I imagine many miners would be annoyed to be out of business." True, and I'm not sure what other businesses they'd be suited for. Work like that is rather beyond my knowledge. * Maimun smiles a little. "Mine too." But. If you could do that, you'd be famous. Famous and wealthy. One cannot forget wealthy. But of course! * Khyra looks up at the sky. * Maimun does too. "You seem to enjoy the open sky as well." I believe I feel most at ease underneath it. Though it's rather ironic. I hate being alone, yet there are very few people who feel the same way about the sky as I do. Thus, most of the time when I want to stay out, there's no one with me. * Maimun smiles. "That seems a shame, that nobody appreciates the sky. Perhaps you should have been born Solarian." * Khyra blinks. "Really?" She seems genuinely surprised. * Maimun turns to Khyra with a nervous look on his face and searches her face. "Well, it is said they are people of the sun and sky, and..." he hrms and the nervousness fades. "Odd. I was worried I would have to apologize, and instead you are curious." Well, no one has said such a thing to me before. I admit that I know very little about Solaria, but I would like to know more. * Maimun smiles a little, then turns back to the sky. "Not many people are that curious." Why not? * Maimun says, "Most likely because it's a far away concern." Yes. Most people won't think about anything outside of their own little towns. * Maimun nods slightly. "That is my guess. Walking around and asking people if they are curious about Solaria might make them wonder if I am, in fact, Solarian." He chuckles. "It is a question it is sometimes smart to avoid." * Khyra considers this for a second. "Yes. I can very much see that." * Maimun nods and turns back to Khyra. "I am glad that you appreciate the sky and can understand why I was nervous about my heritage. I am even more certain now that we will get along well." * Khyra blinks, then smiles. "Unusual things to have in common and to understand. But I agree with you." * Maimun nods. "Good." He turns skyward again. * Khyra yawns, then laughs. "I really have been enjoying this, but I fear my own self is betraying me. It's been a long day, so I'll take my leave now." * Maimun nods. "Very well. Thank you for the conversation. I will be around, although not staying in the inn. I'll be sure to visit the inn tomorrow during the day, though." * Khyra stands up. "Good night to you, then. And good luck." * Maimun nods, not looking back at her. "Good night, and thank you again." * Khyra heads back in. [And so they did some stuff and went back to sleep. End mini.]
