Session Start: Mon Aug 05 20:19:58 2002 * Logging #otherworld to 'c:\documents and settings\todd harper\my documents\text\otherworld besm\session07.txt' [ SESSION START ] ( Starting WITH? ) ( Keep your pants on. ) [ It's been two days since you returned to Lucia, and since then it's been a relaxing trip. Trip, you ask? The authorities refused custody of the still-comatose former Earth Priestess, now identified as Marta Garavedi, the daughter of one of Lucia's nouveau-riche who ran away from home after a falling out with her coal miner father. ] [ Instead, they insisted that the lot of you take the government's private train to the capital, three days to the northeast, to deliver Marta to the government yourselves. Where you are now is on the train to the capital, watching the scenery fly by... well, by medieval standards, anyway. Remi is currently asleep, her hat brim over her face. Marta lays on a bed, as unconscious as she was when you dragged her in before. ] [ The cabin is nice and long. A bed for each of you was provided, as well as a table and a number of comfortable chairs. Red velvet curtains with gold ropes are on the windows, though they're tied back at the moment. ] [ Apparently, you are all also asleep. ] * Magellan is leaning back in a chair, staring vacantly at the scenery while idly tightening and loosening a crescent wrench. * Calculus sips coffee and watches the scenery. *** Calculus is now known as Adam (D'oh.) (snrk) (And Adam is doing, what, then?) ( This is your time to reflect or whatever because the plot's not going anywhere until Remi appears. ) * Abigail sits... on the floor, not trusting any furniture. (Same thing. :P) * Magellan shakes his head, clearing it, then grabs his coffee mug and takes a nice healthy gulp. He looks around, then out the window again, eyes unfocusing. [ Grass. More grass. So much grass. Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaass. Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaass. Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaains... ] * Eroles idly shuffles some cards. I suppose you've already heard the one about how many bandits it takes to change a lamp wick. * Magellan looks up, mildly startled. "Aye, lad, I think I have. Can't remember the punchline, though." He takes another drink. (You know what this reminds me of?) (Every French film I've ever seen parodied.) Three. One to change the lamp wick, one to double-cross him, and one to watch out for the guards. *** NekoScott has joined #otherworld I have to wonder. ( PAUSE. ) (Boo.) ( We're in progress, Scott. Transform! ) *** NekoScott is now known as Remi (Welcome to the French film!) * Adam sighs. "The last time I told that joke, it started a bar fight." Why would bandits bother changing a candle wick if guards were after them? It really doesn't make a lot of sense. * Adam blinks. "Come to think of it, it doesn't, does it?" Not at all. * Magellan chuckles. "If they were fleeing through caves, maybe." Perhaps they were smuggling fire. If they were smuggling fire, they are surely idiots. Well, it's said that the very first thief stole fire from the gods... (*ObPratchettReference*) ( *CRACKS Adam over the head with a bat* ) (Ow! ;_;) ( This mythos will stay Pratchett-free to the limits of my ability, thanks. ) ( Do I look like 2f to you? :P ) Like as not he burned his arse on a flaming log instead. It could have been a...sacred flaming log. Then the gods are stupider than I have been giving them credit for. * Magellan takes a drink. Much like the people below them. * Magellan snorts into his coffee, expelling quite a bit of it over the table. * Eroles raises an eyebrow at that. * Magellan wipes coffee off his glasses. "Ahh, damn and blast." He gets up to refill his cup. * Remi slowly sits up. One finger tips her hat back onto her head, out of her face. She glances around sleepily. "...We there yet?" Not yet. * Magellan fills up his cup. "This has been the longest three days of my life since I finally made journeyman smith." Well, we could always play another game of cards. * Remi considers this information, then shrugs. "Least it's comfortable. Is the witch awake yet?" I've played so many games of cards that I play when I close my eyes. And even then I still lose. Nope, still asleep. "Your attention please. Your attention please. We will be arriving in Stromgarde shortly. All passengers, please prepare to disembark at Imperial Station soon. Thank you." Ah, there we go. * Magellan downs his coffee in one gulp. "Thank all the gods." Funny. I would've thought you'd be ecstatic, riding one of these things. He probably built one in his basement or something. * Adam checks to make sure that he has everything. Seen plenty of 'em, and makin' em isn't the same as working on them. Don't like to be cooped up so long." * Magellan grabs his wrench and toolbox. [ The scenery is less grass, now; you're seeing what would, in another era, be called the "urban sprawl" of Stromgarde; shanty towns and hamlets dotting the countryside. At many of them, you can see a parallel set of tracks being erected for public use. ] * Eroles grabs his.. nothing and goes to check on the Wicked Witch of the southeast. [ Marta is out cold, but for the past day or so, it's been a really WEIRD out cold: Her eyes are open but her pupils are starting to go white, giving the impression that she has no pupils at all. She is clearly breathing if you take the time to LOOK. ] * Abigail gets up and looks out the window. * Remi pulls her long coat back on and sits back in her seat. I wonder if we'll have to stay here long. So, whos turn is it to carry her? I will. Strange days, these. Why's that? "Attention, please. We will be arriving at Imperial Station in five minutes. Please watch your step as the train comes to a complete stop." Outside, you can see the city of Stromgarde, a town of white stone and stained glass, drifting by. All this stuff about places of power, witches who fall asleep. people that never were... just strange. * Adam nods. The world is a strange place. Eh, that's just magic. You get used to it after a while. [ The world goes dark. Briefly. The light that replaces the blue-white of day is the orange of lamps; Imperial Station is the underground reception area for the train, underneath Mullen Castle, the massive cathedral-castle and seat of the Mullenwald government. ] "Thank you for riding the train. You may disembark in the central cabin. The next destination is the return to Lucia at 5pm tomorrow. Please remember to check in with the Travel Ministry in the first floor reception room." * Abigail gingerly picks Marta up and waits for the train to stop. [ The central cabin is two cabins away to the right. They are all passenger cabins like the one you rode in. ] * Magellan hoists his wrench and rubs his beard with his free hand, then starts heading to the central cabin. * Abigail follows. Five PM? Think we'll be able to make that train. * Adam picks up his bag and follows. * Eroles shrugs. "Why bother. Maybe I'll hang out here for a bit." * Eroles follows along. * Remi follows, too. "Here? Why? What is there here?" Outside, there is a massive wide starcase leading up. It's a Sunday, so in fact most people are absent from the government buildings. Only a few dedicated workers are still here. Looks like a interesting place. Not like I've got anywhere special to be. What is there anywhere, really? When you've got no place to be, lass, any place is good. * Magellan heads up the steps. "Although I might want to see the rest of the places that witch was babbling about." What, you've all got noplace to be? Nope. Nowhere. [ For those keeping track of the soundtrack at home: Cue FFX Disc 2, "The Splendid Performance". ] * Adam heads on up the stairs. If I had a smithy, d'ye think I'd have gone traipsing into the forest after a she-devil seducing men younger than me by half? Aye, I'd'a moved, on, and that's truth. ( Aww. I've got the Suiko1 Castle Theme up. ) (Strike that comma from the record, sir!) [ At the top of the stairs is a rather large counter/desk, being monitored by a pleasant looking brunette with very large glasses. She smiles as she sees you all approach. ] "Good afternoon. Welcome to Mullen Castle... are you transporting the prisoner from Lucia?" Yes, we are. Aye. Yep. Would you be taking her now, or do you want me to place her someplace specific? She smiles again. "Please, the elevator is that way..." She indicates a large hallway from which the glow of sunlight is visible. "Through the main chamber. Take her to the Office on the fourth floor." * Adam bows. "Thank you." * Eroles walks along. * Magellan adjusts the bird in his ear. "Elevators. At least we don't have to climb stairs. * Adam follows. Right. No rush. *follows* [ The hallway leads into the main chamber of the palace, a vaulted room of immense height, the nation's intricate seal embossed into the floor with actual gold etching. Massive cathedral windows line the hall; at the far end, on the left, is a set of doors which can only be the fabled elevators, devices available only to the rich. ] * Remi shrugs. "No problems with hiking through the woods and sleeping outside, but three flights of stairs and it kills you? You're a weird one, gramps." ( The rich or the person who recruits the Inventor. ) * Magellan eagerly eyes the elevator doors. "Can't be an inventor if ye ain't a little daft." Or a lot daft. A little, he says. (Heh. Saw it coming? :p) So.. how do we use these things? We'll give you the benefit of the doubt, Magellan. A good question. * Magellan scans them for a button or lever. Oh, that's easy. Look for a button or lever. Then push or pull it. That's how all this stuff works. * Adam looks around, and points at the wall. "Buttons." And if it doesn't work after that, hit it a couple times. And if it falls apart on you? [ There are three banks of doors. Your footsteps and voices are echoing like mad in this cavernous room, considering how empty it is. Next to each of the three doors is a pair of buttons: one embossed with an up arrow, and another with down. These buttons also keep Adam from falling off the edge of the world. *whap* ] (ow.) Then you take the stairs. Well. I'm going to guess and press the up arrow. * Magellan presses buttons. In fact, he presses all the up buttons and one of the down. [ Oddly, Remi, there's no indication of stairs around here. ] (Then you build the stairs, and take them!) [ Thank you, Billy Chaka. All three doors open, though the one where the down arrow was pressed immediately closes again. The other two remain open invitingly. The 'rooms' beyond are quite spacious, even by modern standards. ] * Eroles shrugs and steps into one. (Ah, you've read those books too, I see. ^_^) * Adam follows, as usual. ( Let's just say I prefer to be well-informed. ) * Magellan steps into one, eyes flitting everywhere. * Abigail steps in, too. "If this thing breaks, though, I'm confident enough that I'll be able to make it to some stairs to take without outside assistance. * Remi waits for Magellan to choose one, and then follows him. [ Inside, on the right of the door, is a dial, with stops from 'B' to 30. Below the dial is a button. ] Four, right? Yes, four. ( You can get to the 30th floor! (/3 points) ) * Magellan frowns, then ratchets the dial a few turns. Then he smiles, dials it to 4 and presses the button. ( Stupid son of a bitching Romalian AAAAAAAAAAAAGH! *throttles Atom* ) ( ... Ow. ) Why don't they just have buttons for each floor? (Guess I shouldn't mention floor 7 1/2, huh?) ( I was reffing MMBN2 actually. ((_^; ) *K-THUNK* "Fourth floor. Ministry." a tinny voice says in a monotone. There's a grinding noise, and you begin moving up. Slowly. Woohoo! Now this is traveling! * Eroles fails to look impressed. I'd rather have stairs really. Is it supposed to make that noise? I don't think so, no. Mhm. And there's not really anything we can do about it, huh? Course it is. If it doesn't grind with a purposeful growl, what good is running it? * Abigail glares at Magellan. [ A pleasant little tune plays as you go up. It's apparently a weird song in some ancient tongue: o/` Yami no sabaku ni sanba uba... kin no mekki no tougenkyo... o/` ] ( ... I don't know what that is a ref to, but I have a odd urge to twitch. ) (Utena, probably. :p) * Magellan grins idly. His mustache bristles. ( Hopefully Utena, and not say.. Tokyo Mew Mew. ) (Mew Mew Journalist, metamorphosis!) ( I hate you so much. ) (You're welcome.) ( There are 5 of us. You realize that, right? FIVE. And now I have the image of Catboy Adam and wish to DIE. ) [ *Ding!* Fourth floor. 'Ministry'. IN fact, when the doors open, that's all you see: Plain walls and a large door reading 'Ministry'. It's very quiet. Adam is also savagely eaten by a werewolf who then disappears. ] * Eroles walks out of the deathtra.. err, elevator. * Adam walks out. (It's the Ministry of Ministries!) * Remi heads out of the elevator, and knocks on the door. * Magellan walks out, trying to peer in the cracks between the elevator and the room. ( I gotta take the trash out in.. 10 minutes. ) * Abigail walks out and waits for someone to open the ministry door. * Eroles decides to just try to open the door. [ Your knocking is answered by... another disturbingly chirpy brunette with big glasses. Inside are... desks. A SEA of desks. Most are unoccupied; those that ARE occupied are done so by men and women with straight brown hair with white shirts and either black pants or a black skirt. ] * Eroles is stopped by the door opening. ( WIll you people CHILL? I have to TYPE. Jesus CHRIST. ) ( Sorry. ((_^; ) "Hello! We've been expecting you. Please, this way." She starts to lead the lot of you through the desk maze. * Eroles follows along and wonders if we've wandered into a magical clone factory. * Adam follows. * Magellan blinks. "Ach!" Then he follows along, trying not to get lost or bump his wrench into people's heads. ( Going to get trash out now./ ) ( Pause for a sec, then. I want ice cream. ) (AFK for a sec.) ( Back ) (Back.) [ The sea of desks seems to go on for much more space than you'd think the castle would HAVE on this floor; eventually, the brunette opens a door for you with a smile; the room inside is fairly large, with white walls and a single table with ten chairs. ] "Please, have a seat." SHe smiles at Adam. "You are the one named Adam, correct? Please come with me for a moment." * Adam blinks. "Ah, okay." * Remi gives Adam a sympathetic half-smile and shrug. Any place to deposite comotose plant lover? Have fun Adam. I think she likes you. * Adam sweatdrops and follows the secretary. * Magellan watches Adam leave, then goes into the room and plops hisself down in a chair. ( Ow. OW! OW! Sec. ) ? ( Err. ? ) * Abigail sighs, unceremoniously deposites Marta in a chair, and sits down on the floor. (I just had a really sharp pain in my head for a sec there. Sorry.) * Eroles sits down. (Aack. @_@) (Urk.) ( Jesus. You wanna lie down or something, we can always continue next week? ) ( Nah, I think I'm fine. Was just a little unnerving. ) * Magellan looks around. "Looks like they skimped on the decorating bill. Wonder if they used up the budget on the rest of the place." ( Head pain is bad. I learned that after my Dad's surgery. Ok, if you're sure. ((_^; ) Maybe they're just lazy. They probably spent it putting in "elevators" The brunette smiles pleasant at Abigail. "The floor is fine, I'm sure," she says with cheerfulness and light and sweetness. She turns to Adam and the two leave, shutting the door behind them. Everyone but Adam, mind rolls, sense/hearing bonuses apply. ] 2d6 * Atom rolls for Magellan (2d6) and gets 8. 2d6 * Atom rolls for Eroles (2d6) and gets 8. 2d6 * Atom rolls for Abigail (2d6) and gets 6. (Balls.) (Success!) ( Nope. ) ( Damn your super robot hearing. ) (Success by how much?) (Right on it.) 2d6-2 * Atom rolls for Remi (2d6-2) and gets 2. The room is a little chilly, but otherwise normal. (Got it by 2.) * Abigail frowns, stands up, and goes to the door. * Eroles peers. "What's wrong Abby? Plants coming back to get you or something?" Hmm. That's not exactly reassuring. ( I'm going to be kind of slow. I have to do stuff for Adam in /msg. ) What? * Magellan looks up. I think we may have been locked in. I heard a click. * Eroles stands up and goes to try the door. Abigail gets... maybe two feet towards the door? And from that point forward walking toward it is like walking into a solid wall. * Abigail blinks and pushes forward. ...And then some. ( I assume I run into the same wall? ) ... strange. The air around Abby... 'crackles', for lack of a better term. Abby doesn't get any further; maybe a centimetre or so. It really looks like she's walking in place. * Abigail backs off. Eroles can actually *touch* the door. It's obviously locked. Touching it also gives you a NASTY shock. This... is not reassuring. * Eroles jumps back and shakes his hand. Damn. Ow. I wonder about the walls. * Abigail goes to check one. * Magellan idly taps one of the walls with his wrench. Abigail gets about a foot close, then appears to be walking into a wall. Magellan's wrench gets nowhere NEAR a wall, just like Abigail. Hm. Not the friendliest of welcomes. I say we shoot the witch now, just to be sure. No shooting comatose people. (What's the overall makeup of the room?) * Magellan frowns more. I don't suppose anyone brought some gloves? [ Rectangular room with white walls. There's two chandeliers fairly high up providing light. An all-wooden table and ten matching chairs. ] You could try using one of the chairs as a ram, I suppose. * Magellan drops his wrench, then tries to touch a wall. (How big is the table?) ( What is the door made of? ) [ Fish. Wood, naturally. The handle is brass. ] [ I don't know, TABLE sized. Why? ] (for that matter, what're the walls, floor, and ceiling?) Hm. * Abigail picks up the table. [ I didn't think of exact measures. Pretty Darn Big. ] I say we try for the quick way out. * Eroles moves away from the door. "Works for me." Try giving it a good toss. Go for it, lass. * Remi whispers to Magellan, "Bet it doesn't work." Everyone clear? Good. * Abigail throws the table at the door. * Magellan whispers back, "Not takin' that one." The table flies, thanks to Abby's considerable strength. It gets within an inch of the door... and in a thunderous flash of blue, shatters. The table, that is. Hm. Okay, the door and walls are probably out, then. I suggest we don't try breaking the door down. I wonder what's up on floor five. Maybe if you wrenched a chandelier loose... Well, maybe we can use the witch as a battering ram. * Abigail looks up. (What's the ceiling seem to be made of?) * Eroles grins. "I doubt she'd notice." [ The same thing as the walls, only horizontal. ] Might want to give me a bit of room. You're probably going to get blown to bits. * Magellan backs up to the wall, watching idly. No shooting her, but we can explode her? Sheesh. Yeah, well, if that happens, Magellan can have some putting me back together. Hey, I got near the door without exploding. Magellan gets close to the wall, and then finds himself leaning on thin air, such as it is. ( Have some what? ) (Fun. -_-) * Abigail crouches, then jumps as hard as she can. * Eroles shrugs. "Up to you." Abigail leaps with all of her impressive Spider Powers. Sadly, she gets within about a foot of the nearest chandelier and hits the same invisible wall coming from the ceiling. Youch. That had to hurt. If she can even feel it. * Abigail crashes back to... floor. Donno. Maybe we can try to pick the lock? .. Oh wait, nasty shocks. That won't work. Hm, the floor doesn't seem to do that to her. Maybe she should try breaking through that, instead. * Eroles is simply watching with amusement. * Magellan starts scanning the room very carefully. Well. Anyone want their fortune told while we wait? * Remi shrugs. "Of course, we could just wait to find out what's happening. And why they'd want to keep us here." The floor could work. Have at it then Abby. 2d6-2 * Atom rolls for Magellan (2d6-2) and gets 7. * Magellan frowns and rubs his mustache. The bird in his ear makes disturbing squeaking noises as feedback occurs. * Abigail taps the floor with her foot. I don't think I'd bother, Abby. There's a foot tap, just as if you stepped on a normal floor. I don't think that this room is as it appears. I mean, even beyond the magic. There is sliding noise, and a slot in the door opens. The brunette's smile is all that's visible through it. "Are you all comfortable?" What? The ceiling and walls don't exist? We could do with a new table. Not really. No, more that they're more stable than they appear. Mind telling us why we're here? The smile does not change. "No. In fact, I think we're just going to let you rest for a while, just like Miss Garvedian. Won't that be nice?" No. The walls and ceiling start to... spark, for lack of a better term. Like blue faerie fire. .... You want me to try the floor, now? * Eroles ponders shoving his sword through the slot. Go right ahead. * Abigail crouches down again and punches the floor. Abby's fist goes through the wood! And stops when it hits the thick metal below the wood with a loud CLANG. Ah-ha. Progress. You've got a funny definition of progress. "Oh, dear. That floor is so expensive to replace. Ah well. Good night, ladies and gentlemen." The slot slides shut. And that's when the lightning seems to come from everywhere and hit everyone at once. crap. Should have never followed you crazy people into that forest in the first place. Damn my sense of adventure... ( Body check. +6 penalty. +7 if you're carrying anything metallic. +8 if you're Abigail. ) 2d6+7 * Atom rolls for Eroles (2d6+7) and gets 14. ( No. ) ( Hell, that's impossible for me to make at the easiest. ) (Um... well, I guess I might roll a 2.) 2d6+7 2d6+8 * Atom rolls for Remi (2d6+7) and gets 17. 2d6+8 * Atom rolls for Abigail (2d6+8) and gets 15. * Atom rolls for Magellan (2d6+8) and gets 14. (Or a 10.) ( A natural 2 IS a success no matter what. ) (er.) 2d6+7 * Atom rolls for Magellan (2d6+7) and gets 10. (Woo! I fail by 11!) (Fail by 4.) ( Everyone who fails is KOed quite spectacularly. ) (all of us, then?) ( Except Marta, because she was already KOed. ) [ TIME PASSES... ] (Body checks again. No penalties.) 2d6 * Atom rolls for Eroles (2d6) and gets 7. 2d6 * Atom rolls for Magellan (2d6) and gets 9. (Nope.) ( No. I think I'll use a DR ) 2d6 * Atom rolls for Eroles (2d6) and gets 8. ( Nope. What a waste. ((_^ ) 2d6 * Atom rolls for Remi (2d6) and gets 12. (Uh... no.) 2d6 * Atom rolls for Abigail (2d6) and gets 8. ( Remi critfails. ) ( HOODAMN, Remi. Damn. DAMN. ) (fail by 4) (Sad. Today I've made my Mind rolls, and failed Body. :p) [ MORE TIME PASSES... ] ( One more time. +2 penalty, Remi. ) 2d6 * Atom rolls for Abigail (2d6) and gets 7. 2d6+2 * Atom rolls for Remi (2d6+2) and gets 8. 2d6 * Atom rolls for Eroles (2d6) and gets 11. (Made it exactly.) (fail) ( Nope. ) (Anyone who makes it, wakes up. Groggily. It's nighttime and rather dark.) 2d6 * Atom rolls for Magellan (2d6) and gets 9. (Damnit it all to hell.) ...ow. (DR.) 2d6 * Atom rolls for Magellan (2d6) and gets 7. * Magellan (Kicks Atom in the head.) *** Abigail has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer) The room is really dark. It takes your eyes a minute to adjust. The others are all still quite KOed, and Marta is gone. ( ((_; ) *** DamienRoc has joined #otherworld *** DamienRoc is now known as Abigail ( And now the other admin and I have to babysit #iff so I might be intermittently idle. ) * Remi slowly opens her eyes a crack, not moving the rest of her body until she's checked out the room. Then she slowly, and with much protest from her muscles, sits up and sighs to herself. (miss anything?) ...I knew I should've just shot her. (Nothing that'd you'd notice ICLy, abby, being knocked out.) (Adam still isn't here, I take it?) ( Adam is quite gone. ) * Remi fishes around the floor for a splinter of wood to toss toward the door. * Eroles is taking a nice nap. Someone was even kind enough to clean up the table debris. Probably with Marta's body as a broom. The rest of you start waking up. * Remi checks her pockets. Assuming she's still wearing her coat, that is. * Eroles groans and wakes up. Lovely hospitality here. * Eroles sits up and looks around. * Magellan rolls over and grunts. "Coffee." He pauses a moment. "Shit." I see our guest is gone. * Abigail gets up. That was... not fair. Yup. No coffee, either. That field still there Abby? * Abigail checks the door... area. * Magellan sits up, reaching for his wrench. There's a faint laughing. A figure in black who is vaguely more familiar as your eyes continue to adjust is learning against the wall. "Awake yet? They suckerpunched you but good." More like suckermagiked. Good, someone who might knowwhat the fiddlefuck is going on. * Remi shakes her head. "No magic." (Mind checks, Remi, Magellan. If you have Physics, that helps.) 2d6-2 * Atom rolls for Remi (2d6-2) and gets 7. 2d6 * Atom rolls for Eroles (2d6) and gets 6. ( Made it. ) (Noooo...) ( No, Eroles, darling. You don't get to roll. ^_^; ) ( ... ) ( And of course, I misparsed. ) ( Ehe. ^_^; ) 2d6-2 * Atom rolls for Magellan (2d6-2) and gets 6. ( Excuse my tiny mind. ) (Sw33t.) * Magellan rubs his beard thoughtfully. "Might have been that electromagnewhatsis." Ah yes, that explains everything so well. The figure in black raises an eyebrow. "Whatever it is, they got you but good." How did he get in here? That dagger's at his belt; how's he not sticking to the wall? Who is Tyler Durden? * Magellan shrugs. "I've bloody well forgotten most of it. They use it a bit in wiring sometimes." So, how'd you get in here pal? * Remi nods vaguely. "Think I might've heard of that, now that you mention it. Doesn't exactly help us get out, though..." The figure grins. "That's my little secret. But you know, I like you guys. I don't know why. So tell you what... I'll help you get out of here, if you do a little favor for me." Sure. Sounds good to me. * Eroles says that too. * Eroles also smacks the damned Dicebot and tells him to shut the hell up. * Magellan shrugs. "We weren't doing so hot on our own. What's the favor? ( You awake in there, Abby? ) (Yeah. Sorry. Nose draining.) Favors we can do. I'd like to see you get us out of here, though. The figure grins, and holds out his hand to Eroles, a greenish-colored key dangling from his finger by a hole in the thick end. "All I ask is that you head to Solaria. Shouldn't be hard. If you stay in MUllenwald, you'll be killed." [ Eroles and Remi recognize Solaria's name; it's a country of vast desert to the northeast of this country. ] Sounds fun. Ah. Now we're back to situation normal. Ah, wandering. That I can do. You'll want to pick up a hat. Lots of desert in Solaria. The figure nods, tossing the key to Eroles. "Take off everything metal you've got on, and unlock the door with that key. THe protection shuts off when the door is open." * Eroles grabs the key. * Eroles puts his sword, and a few random coins down and opens the door. (This game becomes more RPG every session. Magellan can't wait till we get an airship.) ( We have to beat the Dark Elf first. ) ( Well, sorry. :P You don't have to stay if it's distressing you. :P ) ( You're kidding. I love it. ) * Eroles opens the door up, and grabs his metal stuff. Because he like the shinys. The hum you never noticed stops, and the silence becomes more noticeable without it. But, if you bother to try it out, you can now walk out the door with no trouble. The windows in the sea of desks are letting in moonlight, and the place is quite empty. (Not distressing. Really amusing. It's like FF without the random battle crap and a cooler plot. And way better characters.) (Heh. Sort of.) (Of course, I simplify.) * Abigail punches a few more holes in the floor before leaving. * Magellan stands up, then grabs his toolbox and wrench, and walks through the door. Okay, that works for me. Let's get out of here. * Eroles starts walking along. ( Remi, Eroles, mind rolls. -1 bonus. ) 2d6-1 * Atom rolls for Eroles (2d6-1) and gets 9. ( Nope! ) * Abigail looks out at the sea of desks. If anyone bothers to turn around and look, by the time you've all left the room, the figure is gone. 2d6-1 * Atom rolls for Remi (2d6-1) and gets 8. (No way.) Hmm... *menacing grin* * Abigail picks up one of the desks, then throws it to cause a rather nice bit of destruction. NOW we can go. * Magellan is walking swiftly towards the door. You know, I'm tempted to try going straight out the window, rather than risk that elevator thing again... Enjoy the fall. I'm sure it will hurt. \ ( If you bother to look OUT the window, you'll notice that it's a long way down onto a spiked fence in the courtyard. ) * Remi wanders over to said window. "Building like this? Shouldn't be too hard to climb... ouch. Spiky fence. Guess they thought of that." There's NOBODY here. The elevator, if you go to it, appears to be working perfectly. * Eroles heads to the elevator and tries the down button. *Ding!* The elevator arrives and opens up. It's lit by a lamp hanging from the ceiling of the 'room'. * Magellan gets in and dials up the 1. * Eroles gets in. * Abigail follows. * Remi shrugs and gets in the elevator. "I'm really beginning to dislike this place." Aye. * Magellan pushes the button. [ You get in and the door shuts. With a CLUNK, it begins the slow descent. Odd music is piped in as before: o/` Tall and tan and young and lovely, the girl from Ipanema goes walking... o/` ] (*SNRK*) [ Apparently, nobody was out to get you. The elevator opens to the lobby being empty again. Even moonlit, there are plenty of shadows to hide in, and very few guards; exiting into the city is fairly easy even for an insanely conspicuous group like y'all. ] Well, I guess we missed the train. Looks like we hike. * Magellan whispers. "Which way to this Salacious or whatever?" Northeast of here. East, first. The quickest way there'd be to join one of the trade caravans. Unless one of you's got an extensive and nearby stable that I don't know about? We should head for the trade caravan. East of here. * Magellan nods. "Sounds like a plan." Sure. Oh, and Adam is there sipping a mug of coffee. ] (He's obviously in league with them. I shoot him. ;p) ( Mouseketeer roll call! ) * Eroles ponders punching Adam in the mouth. (meep.) * Adam , not having spotted the group, is grumbling into his coffee. * Eroles decides to see what explanation he has first. [ But that explanation will have to wait, because as of now, SESSION END. ] * Remi heads over toward Adam, quietly. And, assuming he hasn't heard her, tries to slip her hands over his eyes. "Guess who." (Aww. :p) *** Eroles has quit IRC (Quit: ) [ Well, alright, we'll give Remi that line. ] [ Now it's over. Get out. ] Session Close: Mon Aug 05 23:07:15 2002
