Her hair is a wild mass of curls, short (reaching almost to her shoulders in back), and mostly flame-red, with a white streak running through the left side more or less in line with her left eye. Her eyes are bright blue -- not a grey tone but a true ocean-blue. Her complexion is pale, and lightly dusted with freckles, but she rarely seems to tan or burn in the sun. Her facial features are the type some would call "elfin", and her build is slight. She tends to wear a blousey long-sleeved shirt and trousers in neutral earth tones, comfortable shoes, and a long coat; between the coat's outer fabric and the inner lining, metal plates have been fixed into place to protect some of the more vital spots, but this armor isn't visible to the casual observer. Background: Remi was a reasonably ordinary girl. It's true that her family was relatively well-off, and, not coincidentally, more than a little famous, but that didn't affect her childhood much. Riding, sewing, sketching, dancing, and other pursuits "suitable" for young ladies of her social class (truthfully, of a social class or two above hers, but that wasn't about to stop her parents) filled her days. Those, and the one unusual pursuit. Gunsmithing. The Harmons had made their small fortune in gunsmithing; Remi's great- grandfather was the man who had invented the rifled barrel, increasing the accuracy of the weapons. Her grandfather and her father had followed in his footsteps, and, after a long campaign of discussing, reasoning, whining, pouting, demanding, and threatening, she had been allowed to study the "family business" alongside her older brother Connor. She proved quite talented; she'd never lacked manual dexterity, and she was bright enough, when she could make up her mind to focus on something. But it was her brother who proved the better gunsmith, and the better marksman as well. Where she was whimsical and absentminded, he was practical and focused, and he had the same spark of inventive genius their great-grandfather had exhibited, whereas she did not. When he reached the age of 18, he left on a journeyman's voyage, a custom held over from an earlier age. Remi was set on going with him, and once again, no argument could prevail over her. She was just 16, having been born two years to the day after Connor. At first, his trip seemed uneventful, to Remi. She was constantly distracted by the novelty of each new town they came across, and sometimes prone to spend hours staring into space during the travels in between. So she didn't notice, at first, Connor's brief absences. They grew more frequent, and she assumed he was seeing a lover and, for the most part, forgot about it. That lasted until the morning she woke at sunrise to find him just staggering in through the door of their rented room, bleeding from the shoulder. She did not take the sight well. When she'd calmed down enough to listen to an explanation, he told her about his "other" vocation, as a witch hunter. She worried about the dangers, but this time it was Connor who wouldn't be swayed. She reluctantly submitted, but began to secretly follow her brother -- not every time, but often enough. He was twenty-one years old the day he died. The magician he'd been hunting proved too crafty and too powerful for him. She's blocked the memories of exactly what happened that night, but the nightmares have haunted her ever since. All she really remembers clearly is holding her brother's shattered body cradled in her arms, promising him she'd finish the work he'd started. He'd passed her the weapon he'd used -- the gun he'd invented, unlike any she'd ever seen, as light as a pistol yet faster to fire, not needing to be reloaded after each shot. She took her promise seriously, training in earnest -- first, with the weapon itself, and then in the ways of tracking down and stalking the witches and supernatural creatures. She collected legends and stories with a singlemindedness she'd rarely shown before (or since). And, ironically, she discovered her own talents for magic -- it seemed that that line about red hair and fae blood held true, and, though she scorned magic and refused to fully develop her potential, she picked up bits of protective magic now and then that were simply too useful as weapons against the supernatural to refuse their use. Besides, along with the talent came the ability to feel the presence of magic, and -that- was priceless. It's fairly recently that she's begun hunting witches in earnest. She didn't feel fully ready to face a magician as powerful as the one who'd killed her brother. When she's honest with herself, she'll admit that she still doesn't. But she was spurred on by another discovery that came with her developing perceptions of the magical -- her revolver is not an inert object. It seems to contain a portion, or perhaps an "echo", of her brother's spirit, and to thirst for vengeance against witches and demons. She hasn't entirely sorted out her feelings about this latest discovery, but for now, her aims are as his were. Revolver (Harmon Mk. III Special): This is a shiny nickel-plated revolver with an ivory grip. It's about the size of a standard pistol, but can fire off shots faster, thanks to the revolving barrel. Its workmanship is such that it is more accurate than the norm. It seems to contain a piece or echo of Connor Harmon's spirit, which desires vengeance against the magician who killed him and witches and demons in general; when a bullet fired from it strikes a supernatural creature, it injures their magical energy as well as their physical body. Against any other foe, it is simply a well-designed and advanced-model gun. (It's also a 'pistol' rather than 'autofire' weapon; Auto-Fire represents its ability to snap off multiple shots much faster, relatively, than a standard pistol.)
