His appearance is nearly flawless -- clear, creamy skin, startling aqua eyes, long flame-red hair with a white streak through it near his left eye, delicate of face and form. It's also, incidentally, almost completely androgynous; it's easy to mistake Sam for a woman, in anything less than skintight clothing. His voice is no help, either; its tone is a pleasant, warm, liquid tenor, but high enough that it could be taken for a low alto instead. Background: Sam is a perfectly well-adjusted young man with two living and loving (though geographically somewhat distant) parents and a twin sister, Viki, who might best be described as a "friendly rival". As a child, he was rather introverted, but very bright. He always performed well in school, and managed to pick up the basics of locksmithing from his father, who practiced the profession. From his mother, he acquired a lifelong love for art and music. In college, following an abortive effort at pre-med, he majored in art, eventually transferring to a dedicated art school to concentrate on the performing arts. Following graduation, he managed to find a job in the arts department at the local college, roughly equivalent to that of "teaching assistant". He took it primarily because it offered a steady, if low, salary while he worked on breaking into performing. So far he's only managed a couple of roles in community theater groups, but he's still holding out hope.
